Local Restaurant Marketing Company, Joyous, Launches 2022 Foodie’s Choice Awards in Four Metro PDX Regions
A local Portland-based company, Joyous, is launching an annual people’s-choice-style award, the 2022 Foodie’s Choice Awards, to highlight the cuisine of local, independent restaurants that make our community a great place to live (and eat).
Nominations and voting will be conducted via the Joyous App, with no purchase necessary to participate.
A month-long nominating period will be followed by a one-month voting period. Anybody who downloads the Joyous App via the Apple App Store or Google’s Google Play may nominate local, indy restaurants during the nomination period. Anybody who downloads the Joyous App may vote for up-to-three nominated restaurants to earn the accolade of Gold, Silver or Bronze place amongst local, independent restaurants for one of four local area regions for 2022.
To be eligible, restaurants must be local and independent (no franchises, no chains) and must be in one of the following four areas:
- Beaverton / Hillsboro
- N, NE, NW Portland
- S, SE, SW Portland
- Vancouver / Camas
Joyous created the Foodie’s Choice Awards to promote local, independent restaurants—even if they aren’t a part of the Joyous platform.
Nominees receive promotion online through the Foodie’s Choice Award website, Joyous’ social media channels, and through a free sticker given to every nominated restaurant.
Joyous, founded in 2013 by long-time Portland resident and former restaurant owner Vara Prasad, is sponsoring and organizing the awards.
On your phone, via the free Joyous App.
Nomination period begins October 28th, 2022. Voting period begins December 3rd, 2022. The winners will be announced on January 3rd, 2022.
Joyous, a local Portland-based start-up, seeks to help local, independent restaurants around the country thrive. We also work to promote the amazing indie food scene of the greater Portland Metro Area.
Joyous was founded in 2013 by Vara Prasad, an Indian immigrant to the United States who worked his whole life in technology. After a long career in tech, including a successful acquisition by IBM and a long stint at IBM, Prasad put his life savings on the line to create a way for local, independent restaurants to thrive with the same tools that the big national chains have. Joyous is 100% bootstrapped, having taken no capital from professional investors at this time.
Since 2013, Joyous has built a platform that allows restaurants to offer many features, including takeout, delivery, and contactless dine-in. Still, these robust features—on par with DoorDash, UberEats and Grubhub—are just a small part of the automated marketing engine that Joyous starts for each independent restaurant that joins its platform. Joyous also offers its services to restaurants at a steep discount compared to the national delivery companies while at the same time offering them more. Please see our Restaurant Information Site to learn more about what Joyous can offer restaurants.
Joyous is committed to connecting community and commerce by helping local restaurants thrive while helping diners save on great meals.
